Askegaard Organic Farm is a sixth generation family operation. They farm 1000 acres organically that is made up of flax, pinto beans, wheat and soy.
We've been lucky enough to visit the farm and witness the intention, integrity and pride in all they do. It's a special place and we feel confident that everything we offer from them is clean and grown with love and great attention to detail.
The practices of Askegaard shine in these pinto beans through the richness of flavor and the melt-in-your mouth texture. We had formally used pinto beans exclusively in chili or as an "add in" but now find ourselves eating these by the spoonful with a touch of sea salt for an afternoon snack. This product is a beautiful example of the differences real, organic farming offers in flavor and quality. Fiber, magnesium, potassium and folate are rich and readily available in these beans due to being grown in nutrient dense, organic soil.
